Dickens World is a themed attraction based on the life and works of Charles Dickens and is a popular thing to do in Kent. The attraction offers an interactive, multi-sensory experience, whereby visitors can immerse themselves in the sights, sounds and smells of 19th century England. Visitors can enjoy a journey of discovery as they meet some of Dickens most well-known and best-loved characters. Dickens World could be an ideal thing to do in kent in school holidays.
The attraction is NOT a theme park although there are some experiences to enjoy such as a long dark ride, the “Great Expectations” log flume. Other experiences include the Haunted House of Ebenezer Scrooge, a Victorian school room, a 4D high definition cinema show, “The Six Jolly Fellowship Porters”, a themed bar and restaurant, and Fagins Den, a play area.
Howletts Wild Animal Park




Howletts Wild Animal Park – is home to the largest breeding herd of African Elephants in the UK and also one of the largest breeding groups of Lion-Tailed Macaque in the world. However, the park is most famous for having some of the largest family groups of Western Lowland Gorilla in the world.
Chatham Historic Dockyard




Things to do in Kent – Chatham historic dockyard is a great family day out with lots of things to see and do. As a starting point there are 3 ships to explore. There is a Naval sloop called HMS Gannet, a world war destroyer – HMS Cavalier, and a cold war submarine HMS Ocelot. Chatham historic dockyard also has a number of demonstrations and exhibitions. In the victorian ropery you can enjoy a 40 minute tour, watch a rope making demo and find out about the life styles of the people who worked there. The ‘Steam, Steel & Submarines’ will tell you the dockyard story. There is a collection of 17 RNLI historic lifeboats to see. There are also seperate exhibitions for the ‘big things’ like trucks, trains and machinery, the Railway workshop, maritime museum, restaurant, shop, softplay area and picnic area. Enough to keep most families amused for a few hours at least.
Chislehurst Caves

Chislehurst Caves were originally chalk and flint mines that extend for 22 miles. During the war the caves were used as air-raid shelters and became home to approximately 15,000 people. Today, tours take place Wed – Sun, every hour on the hour and take about 45 minutes. Please check times before setting off.
Leeds Castle in Kent

Brands Hatch Motor Racing Circuit – has a schedule of racing events from March to Nov 2015. There are also track days for cars, bikes, training, testing and experience days. The Club MSV can provide you with everything you need to get you onto the grid! They are committed to getting more people into racing and want to ensure that they help you every step of the way.
Wildwood

Eagle Heights Bird of Prey Centre

Eagle Heights Bird of Prey Centre currently has a collection of approximately 150 raptors or birds of prey. This includes over 50 different species, many of which are now breeding at the centre or can be seen flying in our daily demonstrations. The centre continues to expand and has added a number of animals to the wildlife park including cheetahs, meerkats, snakes, lizards and much more!
Revolution – Skateboard / BMX / Scooter Park

Revolution Skatepark first opened early in 1998 due to the high demand from Skateboarders, Inliners and BMX’ers from all over Kent. It has been designed to suit all levels of ability and ages. Challenging, without compromising safety. The centre also has an extremely challenging rock climbing centre.
The Canterbury Tales

The Canterbury Tales help you to experience the sights, sounds and smells of a bygone era in this fabulous recreation of medieval life; a unique introduction to Canterbury and its famous literary connection. On your adventure, you will accompany Geoffrey Chaucer, and his merry band of pilgrims on their journey of discovery from The Tabard Inn in London to the shrine of St Thomas Becket at Canterbury Cathedral. Along the way, Chaucers colourful and entertaining stories of love, romance, jealousy and trickery are dramatically brought to life for you to enjoy.
Go Ape – Bedgebury

Go Ape is a network of rope bridges, trapezes, tunnels and zip wires that stretches for roughly a mile through the tree canopy. The new lakeside visitor centre is the hub and can be found in Bedgebury Forest, near Tunbridge Wells. Bedgebury also offers excellent bike trails as well as the great tree top adventure. This is a fantastic experience where you will be trained in the use of harnesses, pulleys, carabineers and various safety methods by qualified instructors. You will then safely navigate through a tree top obstacle course to eventually finish on a brilliant zip-wire descent.

The Hop Farm Country Park


The Hop Farm Country Park is a 400-acre Country Park in Beltring, near East Peckham. The centre has a period victorian village, a small wax works exhibition, a petting farm with shire horses and small animals, a themed play area called the enchanted kingdom, a maze, 3-d films, childrens rides, childrens driving school, magic factory and many other fun things to do. The centre is also host to a number of major events and music concerts.
