Stuart Line Pleasure Cruises

Stuart Line Cruises is a multi-award-winning, family-run boat trip company based at Exmouth Marina in Devon. Operating since 1968, it offers a variety of year-round cruises along the scenic River Exe Estuary and the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast.

What to See and Do
Jurassic Coast Cruises: Witness 185 million years of Earth’s history, featuring dramatic red Triassic cliffs and rock formations at Ladram Bay and Sidmouth.
River Exe Cruises: A relaxing 6-mile circular tour focusing on the estuary’s international importance for wildlife, including thousands of migratory birds and local seals.
Day Trips: Sail to popular South Devon towns like Torquay, Brixham, or Sidmouth, often including several hours ashore for exploring.
Special Events: Seasonal offerings include Guided Bird Watching in winter, “Sail with Santa” at Christmas, and evening “Fish and Fizz” or live music cruises.
Onboard Experience: All trips feature live commentary from the Skipper, a fully licensed bar serving drinks and snacks, and locally sourced Devon Cream Teas (pre-order recommended).

Duration of Visit
The time spent depends entirely on the chosen cruise:
1 hour: Mini Coastal “taster” cruises.
1 hour 15 mins: Standard River Exe circular cruises.
2 to 3 hours: Comprehensive Jurassic Coast tours.
Full Day (approx. 6+ hours): Day trips to Sidmouth, Torquay, or Brixham, including travel time and time ashore.

Who and When to Go
Who: It is highly family-friendly and dog-friendly (dogs typically travel free on leads). The vessels are wheelchair accessible (though beach landings on some day trips may not be).
When:
Summer: Best for coastal cruises, beach landings, and open-air upper deck views.
Winter: Famous for Guided Bird Watching cruises on the calm River Exe.
Rain or Shine: Boats have heated, covered lower saloons with large windows, making it a reliable all-weather attraction.

Unique Features
Beach Landings: On the Sidmouth day trip, the boat performs a “flamboyant” beach landing, lowering steps directly onto the pebbles.
UNESCO Access: Provides views of the Jurassic Coast’s geological features that are completely inaccessible from the land.
Exeter Ship Canal: Offers rare cruises through the oldest man-made ship canal in the country, including manual lock operations.
