
Lynton & Barnstaple Railway (Narrow Gauge)
What it is: A lovingly restored narrow-gauge railway set in the heart of Exmoor.
Location: Based at Woody Bay Station on the A39 near Parracombe.
What to see/do: A short (one-mile) but highly atmospheric trip through upland moorland with views that can reach as far as Wales on clear days.
Who & When: Best for hikers and families exploring North Devon. Open April to early November (closed most Mondays and Fridays).
Uniqueness: It uses authentic Victorian railway carriages designed in the 1890s.
