The House of Marbles

The House of Marbles is a unique, independent visitor attraction, working glassworks, and shop based on a historic pottery site.

Location
It is situated on the outskirts of Bovey Tracey, Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, between Exeter and Plymouth.
By Car: Located just off the A38 at the Drumbridges roundabout.
By Bus: Take the number 39 bus from Newton Abbot or Exeter and disembark at Pottery Road.

What to See & Do
Marble Runs: Home to several mesmerizing interactive runs, including “Snooki 2000,” one of the largest permanent marble runs in the UK.
Live Glassblowing: Watch master craftsmen at work in the Teign Valley Glass Studio from a dedicated viewing platform.
Museums: Explore four different museums on-site covering the history of glass, marbles, board games, and pottery.
The Emporium: A massive gift shop featuring traditional toys, games, marbles, and unique homeware.
Dining: Eat at The Old Pottery Restaurant, which offers breakfast, lunch, and Devonshire cream tea.
Games Garden: An outdoor space with a children’s climbing frame, giant games, and a giant floating marble.

Who and When to Go
Who: Ideal for families, gift shoppers, and history enthusiasts. It is wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Dogs are welcome in the garden and the conservatory dining area.
When: Open year-round, 7 days a week (closed Easter Sunday and late December/early January). It is a popular rainy-day destination but can get very busy during the holiday season.

Why It’s Unique
Unlike standard gift shops, it is a completely free-to-enter attraction. Its blend of industrial history (set among listed kilns), live artisan glassmaking, and world-class mechanical marble runs creates a quirky, nostalgic atmosphere you won’t find elsewhere.
