The Prinknash Bird & Deer Park is a nature-focused attraction located in a wooded valley within the Prinknash Abbey estate, near the village of Cranham in the Cotswolds. Reopened in late 2025 under new management, it offers an immersive, “uncommercialised” experience where visitors walk trails alongside free-roaming animals.
Key Activities & Experience
Animal Interaction: You can hand-feed tame fallow deer and encounter over 50 peacocks, waterfowl, miniature donkeys, pygmy goats, and quirky poultry.
Scenic Walks: The park features 18th-century style landscaped parkland with lakes, fish ponds, and traditional follies like the two-storey Tudor Wendy House.
Play Area: A brand-new children’s adventure playground and a family picnic site are available for younger visitors.
Refreshments: There is a coffee hut with a fire pit for toasting marshmallows, while the nearby Prinknash Abbey Cafe serves homemade food and cakes.
Planning Your Visit
Typical Duration: Most visitors spend approximately 1 to 1.5 hours walking the trails at a relaxed pace.
Best Suited For: Families with young children and nature enthusiasts who enjoy a peaceful, “wild” setting rather than a high-tech theme park.
Best Times to Go: Bright, clear days are recommended for the views. Late afternoon is ideal for seeing the peafowl display. Morning feeds typically happen between 10:00 am and 11:00 am.

Unique Features
Unlike standard zoos, the animals are not caged; they approach visitors expectantly, making for highly personal interactions. The setting on a monastic estate between the “new” and “old” Prinknash Abbey adds a historical, tranquil atmosphere different from typical wildlife parks.
Pricing & Membership (As of March 2026)
Entry is paid at reception, and the park is open seven days a week from 10 am to 4 pm.
