Studley Grange Garden & Leisure Park is a multi-faceted destination located in Wiltshire, just off Junction 16 of the M4 near Swindon. It combines a large independent garden centre with a “Butterfly World,” a farm park, a small zoo, a craft village, and an indoor soft play area.
What You Can Do
Butterfly World & Zoo: Walk through a tropical hothouse with hundreds of free-flying butterflies, exotic plants, and fish ponds. You can also visit the indoor reptile house and zoo area to see meerkats, otters, raccoons, and a giant tortoise.
Farm Park: Meet and feed domestic animals including goats, sheep, alpacas, pigs, and donkeys.
Craft Village: Browse independent boutique shops and workshops. You can often watch artisans at work or participate in activities like pottery painting, jewellery making, and chocolate creating.
Garden Centre & Shopping: Shop for a wide variety of plants, garden furniture, and pet supplies at the on-site Pet Shed.
Soft Play: Children up to age 8 can use the “Soft Play at Studley Grange” (formerly Bonkers), which features climbing frames and slides.

Visit Planning
Typical Duration: Most visitors spend 2 to 4 hours (a half-day), though families utilizing the soft play and restaurant may stay for a full day.
Best Suited To: Families with young children (especially those under 8 for the soft play), gardening enthusiasts, and craft lovers.
Best Times to Go:
Spring: For seeing new lambs and spring blossoms.
Butterfly Season: March to October is peak time for butterfly activity, though the house is open year-round.
Daily Events: Visit around 11:30 am (Otters), 1:30 pm (Raccoons), or 3:30 pm (Meerkats) to catch daily feeding talks.
Unique Features
What sets Studley Grange apart is its “all-in-one” indoor and outdoor nature. The tropical butterfly house provides a “tropics in Wiltshire” experience that is completely weatherproof. The integration of a working craft village where visitors can actively participate in crafts like quilting or glasswork is also a distinct feature not typically found in standard garden centres.
