Huntly Nordic and Outdoor Centre
Huntly Nordic and Outdoor Centre is the UK’s only purpose-built all-weather facility for cross-country skiing, offering a unique twist on traditional downhill snow sports. It is located in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, using the postcode AB54 4SH.

Instead of just sliding down a hill, cross-country skiing is all about gliding across flat tracks and rolling terrain. It is an amazing full-body workout and a completely different way to experience skiing.
- All-Weather Track: The centre features a dedicated outdoor matting track that allows you to practice cross-country skiing techniques and roller-skiing even in the middle of summer.
- Forest Trails: When real snow falls in the winter, the centre grooms miles of beautiful, peaceful trails winding directly through the adjacent Clashindarroch Forest.
- Extra Activities: Beyond skiing, they offer open-air sessions for roller-skiing, snowshoeing, and outdoor tubing where you zoom down a dry matting slope.

It is a fantastic match for active families, fitness enthusiasts, couples, and anyone looking to try a unique, alternative sport. Most visitors spend about 2 to 3 hours here for a session or a lesson, but you can stay longer if you head out into the forest paths.

The activities are best suited for children aged 5 and up, as cross-country skiing requires a bit of coordination and stamina. Tubing is open to younger children under adult supervision.

- Parking: There is free parking on-site right next to the main log lodge building.
- Food & Drink: The main lodge has a small, cozy cafe area serving hot drinks, cakes, and light snacks. Huntly town centre is just a short trip away for larger restaurants and traditional bakeries.
- Comfort: Wear flexible, comfortable sportswear rather than heavy, stiff ski gear, as you will be moving around a lot and warming up quickly.

The spectacular ruins of Huntly Castle are located very close by and are well worth a visit. You can also explore the historic market town of Huntly itself, which is famous for its traditional shortbread. The center sits right next to the River Deveron, offering lovely flat walking paths for a relaxing stroll after your activities.
