Go Ape – Trent Park Enfield

Go Ape Trent Park is an adrenaline-fuelled outdoor adventure centre located within the beautiful Trent Park in Enfield, North London. It’s a high-ropes course set high in the canopy of the forest, offering a mix of physical challenge and great views of the surrounding parkland.

What to Experience

Visitors can tackle a series of high-ropes crossings, navigate rope bridges, and fly through the air on massive zip wires. One of the standout features here is the height; since the trees are particularly tall, it’s one of the highest Go Ape courses in the country. You’ll also find unique “skateboard” zip wires and Tarzan swings that drop you into giant cargo nets.

Duration

On average, most people spend about 2 to 3 hours completing the main course. If you include time for a safety briefing and a stroll through the park afterwards, plan for a half-day outing.

Who is it for?

  • Best Suited For: Thrill-seekers, active families, and groups of friends. It is fantastic for anyone looking to push their physical limits or conquer a fear of heights.
  • Groups: It’s a popular choice for stag and hen parties, team-building days, and energetic teenagers.
  • Who might be bored? Those who prefer a relaxed, sedentary pace or anyone with a severe phobia of heights might find the experience more stressful than fun.

Best Time to Visit

  • Quieter: Early morning slots on weekdays are usually the most peaceful.
  • Weather: It’s best enjoyed on dry, overcast, or sunny days. While the course stays open in the rain (which can add a fun, muddy challenge), high winds or lightning will shut it down.
  • Atmosphere: Autumn is particularly beautiful as the leaves change colour, providing a stunning backdrop for your climb.

Unique Features

What sets this location apart is its accessibility via the London Underground (Cockfosters Station), making it one of the easiest “forest” adventures to reach without a car. It also features some of the longest zip wires in the region.

Budget & Value

  • Discounts: Look out for Blue Light Card discounts or “Early Bird” offers if you book well in advance.
  • Memberships: Frequent visitors or large families often find value in seasonal passes or gift vouchers which can sometimes be purchased at a lower rate than individual bookings.
  • Points: Keep an eye on loyalty schemes like Tesco Clubcard, as vouchers can sometimes be converted for use here, significantly cutting the cost.

Visitor Advice

  • Clothing: Wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear with good grip. Avoid dangling jewellery or scarves, and wear clothes you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. Gloves are highly recommended for handling the ropes.
  • Food: Bring a picnic! There are plenty of open spaces in Trent Park to eat for free.
  • Parking: There is on-site parking available, but it can fill up quickly on weekends, so arriving early is wise.

Nearby Enhancements

Within Trent Park, there is a café serving hot drinks and light snacks, perfect for a post-climb debrief. For something more substantial, the nearby area of Cockfosters has a variety of local restaurants, pubs, and Italian bistros just a short walk from the park entrance.
