

Cowes Week is one of the world’s oldest and largest annual sailing regattas, held in early August on the Isle of Wight, featuring 8 days of intense racing, massive crowds, and a festival atmosphere. It attracts thousands of sailors and around 100,000 spectators to watch, party, and enjoy live music, fireworks, and coastal town activities.
For sailing enthusiasts it’s a must-see event, with about 1,000 boats and 5,000 competitors racing. The week offers vibrant social life, including live music, cocktail parties, and lively pubs. It’s also a unique atmosphere for families and holiday makers with plenty to see, including fireworks and a dedicated Regatta Village. For those interested in the yachts there are many different types from modern to classics to see.
The races include over 1000 Boats, racing on the Solent with up to 40 races per day. There are themed Days such as Ladies’ Day. There are also spectator Boats offering trips to get close-up views of the action in the Solent.
Occasionally there are flyovers by the Red Arrows. and it finishes with a spectacular final firework display on the last Friday.
As a visitor you can view the action from the Cowes Green, the Parade, or the Royal Yacht Squadron.
Visit the Regatta Village and enjoy the hub on Cowes Parade with a beer tent, food court, and live music.
In the town you can wander through Cowes High Street, which is packed with boutiques, restaurants, and pubs. There is a local museum mainly themed about local maritime history. There are also plenty of places to Socialize and Party. Enjoy the nightlife in the many bars and taverns, particularly in the Cowes Yacht Haven.
