White Post Farm

White Post Farm is located in Farnfield, Nottinghamshire. It’s a massive hit for families and is the kind of place where you can easily kill three to five hours, especially if the weather is on your side.

What’s the Vibe?

This isn’t just a “look at the sheep” kind of farm; it’s very hands-on. You can get stuck into feeding the goats, holding chicks, and meeting some of the more exotic residents like reptiles and meerkats. It’s designed to be an interactive experience rather than just a walk-through.

Age Appeal

• Young Children & Primary Schoolers: This is their paradise. They’ll love the close encounters and the freedom to run around.
• Teenagers: Honestly? Most might find it a bit “young.” Unless they’re big animal lovers or want some cute photos for their socials, they’ll probably get restless after an hour or so.
• Adults: It’s interesting enough if you’re a fan of animals, but you’re mostly there to facilitate the kids’ fun.

Play & Supervision

There are solid indoor and outdoor play areas, including a big soft play barn.

• The Parent Break: The soft play is a great spot to grab a coffee while the kids burn off energy, but for the animal areas, you’ll need to provide close supervision. There’s a lot of hand-washing involved (standard farm rules!) and the feeding can get a bit “enthusiastic” with the goats.

Food & Extras

The on-site cafe is decent for standard farm fare, but it can get pricey for a full family meal. Many regulars bring a picnic to save cash. Parking is free, which is a nice bonus.

Value for Money

• Discounts: They often have reduced rates for Seniors and Carers. It’s also worth checking for Blue Light Card discounts before you book.
• Memberships: If you live within a 30-minute drive, the Annual Pass is a no-brainer. It usually pays for itself in about three visits.

Making a Day of It

If you want to stretch the trip out, the farm is right near Wheelgate Park (a larger theme park/farm combo) or you can head into the nearby village of Farnsfield for a more relaxed pub lunch. For something a bit different, Sherwood Pines isn’t far away if you want to swap the farmyard for some forest trails.
