Light Cinema – New Brighton

The Light Cinema is located right on the waterfront at Marine Point in New Brighton, Merseyside. It’s a modern, stylish spot that serves as the anchor for the local redevelopment, making it a great hub for a day out by the sea.

The Vibe

This isn’t your average “sticky floor” multiplex. It’s got a much more relaxed, premium feel with a massive lounge and bar area. People typically spend about 2 to 3 hours here, though the café-bar is nice enough that you might find yourself lingering for a coffee or a drink before the film starts.

Who is it for?

  • Families: It is a huge hit for all ages. They run special screenings for babies (low light and sound) and family specials.
  • Young Kids: They’ll love the big screens and the fact that the seats are generally very comfy. The snacks are a big draw, obviously.
  • Teens: It’s a safe, “cool” place for them to hang out independently without parents hovering too closely, as the whole Marine Point area is quite self-contained.
  • Adults: The bar serves proper coffee, wine, and craft beers which you can take into the screens. It’s a popular spot for date nights or catching an indie film, as they often show more than just the big blockbusters.

Tips for your visit

  • Discounts & Deals: It is definitely worth looking into their membership scheme if you live locally or visit New Brighton often, as it offers significant savings. They generally offer reduced rates for seniorsstudents, and children. If you have a Blue Light Card, keep it handy as they often provide a discount for frontline workers.
  • Parking: There is a large car park right outside which is free, though it can get very busy on sunny weekends and bank holidays.
  • Food & Drink: While cinema snacks are priced as you’d expect, the venue’s own cafe is decent. However, you are spoiled for choice nearby.

Making a day of it

Since the cinema is part of the Marine Point complex, you can easily turn a two-hour movie into a full day out. You’ve got Bubbles’ World of Play (a massive soft play) right next door if the little ones need to burn off energy, and Championship Adventure Golf is just a short walk away. For food, there are plenty of big-name restaurants like Prezzo and Loungers right on the doorstep, plus some great local fish and chip shops along the promenade.
