Pendenis Castle – Cornwall

Pendennis Castle is one of Henry VIII’s finest coastal fortresses, built in the 1540s to defend Cornwall from invasion. It has a long military history, serving through the English Civil War and both World Wars.

Where: It is situated on a rocky headland overlooking the Fal Estuary and the town of Falmouth in Cornwall.
Getting There: Accessible by car (postcode TR11 4LP), by a 20-minute walk from Falmouth Docks train station, or via the Falmouth Town Shuttle bus.
