Beverley Racecourse

Beverley Racecourse is a fantastic spot for a day out, tucked away in the scenic Beverley Pasture on the edge of the town. You’ll find it at HU17 8QZ, East Yorkshire.

The vibe here is incredibly friendly and a bit more laid-back than some of the massive tracks, making it a hit for everyone from serious racing fans to families looking for a fun afternoon in the sun. The “flat” racing season usually kicks off in April and runs through until September.

What to Expect

The track is famous for its uphill finish, which always adds a bit of drama to the final sprint! Most people spend about 4 to 5 hours here, taking in the atmosphere between races.

• The Enclosures: There are different areas depending on what you’re after. The Course Enclosure is the most relaxed—perfect for a big family picnic where the kids can run around. The Grandstand & Paddock gets you closer to the parade ring to see the horses up close, and the Premier Enclosure is where you go if you want to dress up and feel a bit fancy.
• Themed Days: Keep an eye out for special events. Their Ladies’ Day (usually in August) is huge for fashion and glamour, while their dedicated Family Days often feature extra entertainment like fairground rides or face painting to keep the younger ones happy.

Since the racecourse is right on Beverley Westwood, you’re literally steps away from a massive open space that’s perfect for a walk to blow away the cobwebs. Keep an eye out for the local cows that roam freely there!

You can easily wander into Beverley town centre (about a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute drive). It’s a stunning market town. You absolutely have to see Beverley Minster—it’s massive and looks more like a cathedral than a parish church. The narrow streets are packed with independent boutiques, cosy pubs, and great cafes. If you’re still hungry after the races, the town has a brilliant mix of high-end bistros and traditional fish and chip shops.
