Sewerby Hall, Gardens and Zoo
Bridlington, YO15 1ED, East Riding of Yorkshire
This place is a fantastic “all-rounder” for a family day out, perched right on the clifftop with some of the best views of Bridlington Bay. It’s got that classic mix of a stately home, beautiful grounds to run around in, and a zoo that’s just the right size for keeping everyone entertained without being exhausting.
What’s the fun stuff?
The zoo is usually the star of the show. You’ll find Humboldt penguins (the feeding sessions are a highlight), mischievous lemurs, and some very cute pygmy goats. It’s perfect for younger children but genuinely charming for adults too.

The Hall itself has been restored to its 1900s glory. It’s not a “don’t touch anything” kind of place; it’s interactive and light-hearted. Look out for the Amy Johnson collection—she was a pioneering pilot from Hull and her story is pretty cool. Outside, the walled gardens are stunning, and there’s a massive adventure playground that’s a big hit for burning off energy.
On the Move
If you fancy a walk, you can actually stroll here from Bridlington along the clifftops. It’s a level, easy path with incredible sea views. If the legs are getting tired, there’s a land train that runs between Sewerby and Bridlington (usually from March to October), which is a fun way to travel and saves you a long walk back!
