Mersey Wheel

The Mersey Wheel (also known as the Liverpool Wheel or Wheel of Liverpool) is located at Keel Wharf on the waterfront in Liverpool, Merseyside, right next to the M&S Bank Arena and the ACC Liverpool.

To be honest, this is one of those “see it and say you’ve done it” attractions. It’s a giant observation wheel that gives you a bird’s-eye view of the city skyline, the River Mersey, and the Welsh mountains on a clear day. While the views are great for a few photos, the experience is quite short—most people spend about 15 to 20 minutes on it, which is the time it takes to complete a few revolutions.

Who will enjoy it?

• Families: It’s a gentle experience, so it’s genuinely for the whole family.
• Young Children: They usually find the height exciting, and because the pods are fully enclosed, it’s a hands-off activity for parents where kids are safe and contained.
• Teenagers: They might find it a bit “slow” and get restless after the first rotation, though they’ll likely appreciate the Instagram opportunities.
• Adults: It’s more of an “interesting” viewpoint than high-octane entertainment.

Planning your trip:

• Discounts: Keep an eye out for Seniors and Student rates. Families can usually grab a Family Ticket to save a bit.
• Parking: Being right on the waterfront, parking nearby at the Arena or Albert Dock can get expensive, especially on event days.
• Nearby: Since the wheel only takes up a tiny part of your day, you should definitely combine it with a walk around the Royal Albert Dock. It’s packed with restaurants, cafes, and bars like The Pumphouse or Maray. You’re also steps away from the Museum of Liverpool and the Maritime Museum, which makes for a much more complete day out.
