Historic Royal Landmarks

London is packed with royal history. Here are a few must-see landmarks:

  • The Tower of London: Built by William the Conqueror nearly 1,000 years ago, this fortress has served as a royal palace, a notorious prison, and the secure home of the Crown Jewels.
  • Buckingham Palace: The official London residence of the UK’s sovereigns since 1837. It is famous for the Changing of the Guard ceremony and its iconic balcony where the Royal Family appears during celebrations.
  • Westminster Abbey: This grand church has hosted every royal coronation since 1066. It is also the site of many royal weddings and the final resting place of 17 monarchs.
  • Kensington Palace: A royal residence for over 300 years, it was the birthplace of Queen Victoria and the former home of Princess Diana. Large parts of its historic state apartments are open to the public.
