Droitwich Spa Lido is one of the UK’s few remaining open-air saltwater swimming pools, tucked away in the heart of Worcestershire. It’s a bit of a local gem, offering a seaside vibe without the long drive to the coast.
What’s the vibe?
This is a classic 1930s style pool, but the real draw is that it’s heated and filled with brine (saltwater), which is much gentler on the skin than heavy chlorine. It’s a fantastic spot for a hot summer day.
How long should you stay?
Most people spend about 2 to 3 hours here. If the sun is out, you could easily stretch that to a full afternoon by lounging on the grass.
Budget and Value
Making a day of it
Since the Lido is located right within Lido Park, you can easily combine your swim with a wander through the gardens. There are tennis courts, a skate park, and a large children’s playground right next door that are all free to use.
If you’re hungry afterwards, Droitwich town centre is just a five-minute walk away. You’ll find plenty of local cafés and pubs there that offer much better value than the pool-side snacks. It’s definitely worth the trip if you’re within an hour’s drive, but if you’re coming from further afield, make sure you plan to spend time in the surrounding park to make the journey worthwhile.
