The Laurel and Hardy Museum is a total must-see if you’re a fan of the legendary comedy duo or just love a good laugh. Since Stan Laurel was actually born in Ulverston (LA12 7AL, Cumbria), the town is super proud of him. The museum is tucked away in the old Roxy Cinema, which gives it a great vintage vibe.
What’s the fun factor?
It’s basically a treasure trove of memorabilia—think hats, letters, personal items, and photos. The highlight for most is the small cinema screen that plays their classic shorts and feature films on a loop. It’s the perfect place to sit back, rest your legs, and have a genuine giggle. You’ll also find a life-sized statue of the pair outside that is perfect for a quick selfie.

Since the museum won’t take up your whole day, you can combine it with a walk up to the Hoad Monument (the giant lighthouse-looking building on the hill). It’s a bit of a steep trek, but the views over Morecambe Bay are incredible. If you’re fancying a pint or a meal afterward, the town’s main square is just around the corner with plenty of outdoor seating to soak up the atmosphere.
