Sitting almost next door to each other on Blackpool’s central Promenade, SEA LIFE Blackpool and Madame Tussauds make a brilliant indoor double act — perfect for the days when the Irish Sea weather has other ideas. Between them you can walk beneath sharks, come face-to-face with jellyfish, judge a Strictly dance-off and take selfies with just about every famous face you can think of.
Location Details
- County: Lancashire
- Post Code: FY1 5AA (central Promenade, close to Central Pier — the tram stops almost opposite)
SEA LIFE Blackpool
- The Ocean Tunnel: The showstopper — a glass walkway through the main tank with sharks and rays gliding overhead. Time your visit for a feed and it’s mesmerising.
- 2,500+ Creatures: From rockpools and seahorses to piranhas in the AmaZone rainforest zone and a room of glowing jellyfish.
- Hands-on: Touch pool demonstrations and talks run through the day — ask staff for feeding times when you arrive.
Madame Tussauds Blackpool
- Famous Faces: Room after room of remarkably lifelike figures — music, film, sport and plenty of British TV favourites you won’t find in the London attraction.
- Get Involved: This is a very hands-on Tussauds: sit at the Strictly judges’ desk, step into TV sets and pose your way from room to room. Bring a full phone battery.
Good to Know
- Duration: Allow 1 to 2 hours for each attraction — together they fill a comfortable half day.
- Savings: Booking online in advance is much cheaper than walking up, and combination tickets covering both attractions — and Blackpool’s other big names — offer serious savings if you’re doing more than one.
- Getting there: The tram along the Promenade is the easy option; drivers should head for the car parks around Bonny Street, just behind the seafront.
- Best for: Families and groups of all ages — and both attractions are step-free with lifts throughout.
Eat, Drink & Stay Nearby
You’re spoiled for choice on the Golden Mile — fish and chips on the Promenade is practically compulsory — but for something beyond seaside classics, head a couple of streets back to Abingdon Street Market, Blackpool’s restored Victorian market hall, now a buzzing food hall with independent kitchens and a proper coffee counter. It’s five minutes’ walk and a world away from the arcades.
Make a night of it: Blackpool hotels go for a song outside peak weekends, and the Winter Gardens and Opera House host big touring shows all year — a great way to round off an indoor-attractions day.
