The Blue Reef Aquarium Portsmouth is an immersive “undersea safari” featuring over 40 living displays that house everything from local British marine life to exotic tropical species.

Location & Getting There
The aquarium is situated on the seafront in Southsea, Portsmouth.
Address: Clarence Esplanade, Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO5 3PB.
Parking: There is no dedicated car park, but Pay & Display seafront parking is available directly outside the entrance.
Public Transport: It is a 10-minute walk from Southsea Shopping Centre (accessible by bus) and roughly 30 minutes from Portsmouth Harbour Station.

Explore Underwater Exhibits: Walk through the ocean tunnel to see sharks and rays gliding overhead.
Attend Talks & Feeds: Hourly educational talks and feeding demonstrations cover species like turtles, rays, and tropical fish.

Who Should Go & When
Best For: Families with young children and “small Octonauts fans” find it most engaging. It is also highly recommended as a rainy-day activity since most exhibits are indoors.
When to Visit: It is open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (last entry 4:00 pm), except Christmas Day.
Peak Times: Saturday afternoons are typically the busiest.
Quiet Times: Weekday mornings or afternoons are generally less crowded.
Sensory Saturdays: The first Saturday of each month (9:00 am – 10:00 am) offers a quieter experience with minimal sensory disruption.
