Perthshire Zoo (Formerly Auchingarrich Wildlife Park)

What to Expect and Enjoy

Note on Name Change: Long known to locals as Auchingarrich Wildlife Park, this attraction has recently been officially renamed Perthshire Zoo.

The park is famous for its relaxed, interactive atmosphere and stunning panoramic views of the surrounding hills. You can wander through the enclosures to see a wonderful mix of exotic and native animals, including playful meerkats, lemurs, wildcats, and marmosets. The absolute highlight for families is the indoor petting barn, where little ones can get hands-on and cuddle baby rabbits, guinea pigs, and fluffy chicks. Outside, there are fantastic adventure play zones, outdoor flying foxes, and a brilliant indoor soft play barn that serves as a perfect escape if a sudden rain shower sweeps over the hills.

Best For and Time Spent

This is a phenomenal day out for families with toddlers, young children, and young teens, as well as couples who love a scenic walk with great animal views.

  • Duration: Most families spend between three to four hours here to comfortably see all the animals, enjoy the play barns, and sit down for a bite to eat.

Helpful Tips for Your Visit

  • Parking: There is a large, gravel car park on-site which is completely free for visitors.
  • Food & Drink: The on-site café serves fantastic hot food, home baking, and coffee, and it features an outdoor deck with absolutely spectacular elevated views over the valley.
  • Clothing: The zoo is built on a natural hillside, so the paths can be a bit steep in places. Comfortable walking shoes or trainers are highly recommended to tackle the slopes.

Nearby and Combine-able Hits

The zoo is located just outside the picturesque conservation village of Comrie, which is filled with lovely local deli shops and cafés. It is also an easy, scenic drive from the town of Crieff, making it a great day-trip combination with local woodland walks or a visit to the nearby Glenturret Distillery.
