Public Skating & Lessons

Public skating sessions run all year round and suit all ages and abilities, with skate hire and balance aids available for beginners. Disco skating sessions add dazzling lights and music for a livelier atmosphere — great fun with friends or family.

If you’d like to go beyond the basics, the arena runs structured skating lessons covering Levels 1 to 8 plus the Skate UK Star Bronze, Silver and Gold awards, along with dedicated figure skating training ice and private coaching. It’s a genuine pathway from first wobble to competition standard.

Home of the Cardiff Devils

The arena — which opened in 2016 as Ice Arena Wales — is the home of the Cardiff Devils, who play in the Elite Ice Hockey League, the top tier of ice hockey in the UK. From September to March the Devils typically play at least one home game a week, and the atmosphere is fantastic: fast, loud, family-friendly and one of the best-value big-sport nights out in Wales.

Visiting the Vindico Arena

The arena sits in the Cardiff International Sports Village in Cardiff Bay, right next to the Cardiff International Pool, with free on-site parking. By public transport, the Number 9 bus from Westgate Street in the city centre stops directly outside, and Cogan is the nearest train station. The arena is fully accessible and a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme.

Cardiff Bay is a brilliant destination in its own right — combine your skate with a walk along the waterfront and dinner at one of the many restaurants at Mermaid Quay for a really enjoyable Cardiff day out.
