Lunderston Bay

Located near Gourock in Inverclyde, this is part of the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park. It is the nearest sandy beach to Glasgow, making it a very popular escape for city dwellers. You’ll find it using the postcode PA19 1BB.

This is a classic “fresh air” spot. It isn’t a bustling resort with rides; it’s a place for a long walk and a bit of nature.

  • The Coastal Path: There is a fantastic, level, and fully surfaced path that runs along the shoreline. It’s perfect for walkers, cyclists, and wheelchairs. The views across the water to Dunoon and the Argyll hills are stunning.
  • The Beach: A mix of sand and shingle that’s ideal for rock-pooling at low tide. It’s a very safe spot for children to splash around in the water.
  • Picnic and Play: There is a large grassy area for games and a well-equipped children’s play park.
