Dalmeny House

This is a stunning Gothic-style mansion located on the shores of the Firth of Forth. It is the family home of the Earl and Countess of Rosebery and is found in South Queensferry, postcode EH30 9TQ.

What to Expect and Enjoy
Dalmeny is famous for being one of the first “Tudor-Gothic” houses built in Scotland, and it looks like something out of a fairy tale with its pointed turrets and elaborate chimneys.

  • The Collections: Inside, you’ll find one of the most important collections of French furniture and porcelain in the UK. It also houses “The Napoleon Collection,” which includes items used by Napoleon during his exile.
  • The Shore Walk: The house sits in a huge parkland. There is a lovely coastal path that runs along the front of the estate, offering amazing views of the sea and the Forth Bridges.
  • Atmosphere: Because it is still a family home, it feels much more “lived-in” and intimate than some of the larger, colder palaces.

Best For and Time Spent
Ideal for adults, couples, and seniors who appreciate fine art, furniture, and quiet coastal scenery.

  • Duration: A house tour and a stroll through the grounds usually take about 2 hours.

Helpful Tips for Your Visit
