Jupiter Artland

Located within the 100-acre estate of Wilkieston, this is an award-winning contemporary sculpture park that feels like a real-life wonderland. It is in Wilkieston, West Lothian, postcode EH27 8BY.

What to Expect and Enjoy
This isn’t a traditional gallery; the “walls” are the trees and hills. You are given a map and encouraged to explore the woods and meadows to find the hidden artworks.

Cells of Life: These are massive, swirling grassy mounds and lagoons created by the famous architect Charles Jencks. They are incredible to look at and great fun for kids to run up and down.
The Woodland Walk: As you wander through the trees, you’ll stumble across strange and beautiful surprises—like a giant iron spider, a hidden underground crystal grotto, or a “weeping” stone.
The Gateway Pool: A colourful, fully functional outdoor swimming pool that is also a piece of art! It’s a very popular spot for “wild swimming” sessions.
Nature Play: For children, the park is like a giant adventure playground. They have “Woodland Artsparks” sessions where kids can build dens and do creative activities in the forest.

Ideal for families, couples, and art lovers. Because it’s so spread out, it never feels crowded, making it great for seniors seeking a peaceful walk.

Helpful Tips for Your Visit

Season: For the first time, Jupiter Artland is moving toward being open year-round, but the main summer season is usually from April through October. Always check for winter opening days before heading out.
Footwear: Wear sturdy shoes or wellies! You’ll be walking on grass, gravel, and forest paths which can get muddy after rain.
Food & Drink: They have a lovely cafe in the old stable block, but they kindly ask that you don’t bring your own picnics into the main artland area.
Dogs: Well-behaved dogs on leads are usually welcome in the grounds, though there may be some restricted areas near certain artworks.
