W5 is a hands-on science and discovery centre in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter. It is the kind of place where children can press buttons, build things, test ideas, climb, experiment and generally learn without feeling as though they are in a classroom.
There are lots of interactive exhibits, science zones and activities based around the body, energy, senses, technology and discovery. It is especially good for families because most of the visit is active rather than just looking at displays. Children can get involved, try things for themselves and burn off some energy indoors.

One of the big advantages of W5 is that it works well in bad weather. If you are visiting Belfast and need something indoors that still feels like a proper day out, this is a very useful choice. It is also close to other attractions in the Titanic Quarter, so it can be combined with a wider Belfast day trip.
W5 is mainly aimed at children and families, but adults who enjoy science, puzzles and interactive displays should still find plenty to enjoy. Younger children may need help with some exhibits, while older children usually enjoy being able to explore more independently.
There is a coffee shop and a picnic area, so visitors can either buy food there or bring their own refreshments. Booking ahead is usually recommended, especially during school holidays and busy weekends.
Good to know: Children under 12 normally need to be accompanied by an adult. Memberships, family tickets and occasional offers may be available, so it is worth checking before visiting.
