Pickie Fun Park

County: County Down
Postcode: BT20 5DR
Best for: Families, young children, seaside days, relaxed outings
Average visit time: Around 1.5 to 3 hours

Pickie Fun Park is a simple, old-school seaside attraction that works really well if you’ve got younger children and want something easy and fun without it feeling too busy or expensive.

The main feature is the small lake where you can hire swan-shaped pedal boats. It’s a nice, gentle activity that most children enjoy, especially on a calm day. There’s also a miniature railway that runs around the park, which is always a hit with younger kids.

You’ll find a good-sized play area with plenty of space to run around, plus a splash pad for warmer days where children can cool off and have a bit of fun in the water. It’s not huge, but everything is close together, which makes it easy to keep an eye on children and move between activities.

What makes Pickie nice is the setting. It’s right on the seafront in Bangor, so you’ve got coastal views and a bit of a holiday feel. You can easily turn it into a longer visit by walking along the promenade or heading into town.

There’s a café on site for drinks, ice creams and light food. It’s convenient, especially if you’re staying a while, but like most places by the sea, it can be a little on the pricey side.

Good to know: This is very much aimed at younger children. Teenagers and adults on their own will probably only spend a short time here unless they’re just enjoying the seaside setting.

Nearby ideas: Bangor seafront is right beside the park, so it’s easy to combine this with a walk along the marina or a visit into town for food. If you’re exploring more of the area, you’re also within easy reach of Bangor Marina for a relaxed wander.
