Eyemouth

County: Berwickshire
Postcode: TD14 5HL
Best for: Families, beach lovers, and fans of fresh seafood
Average visit time: 3 to 4 hours

Just down the coast from St Abbs, Eyemouth is a busy working fishing port with a sandy beach. It has a very classic “seaside holiday” feel. Children will love the fact that you can often see wild seals swimming in the harbour waiting for the fishing boats to come in.

Visitors can enjoy the Eyemouth Museum, which tells the story of the town’s fishing history, or take a high-speed boat trip out to see the caves and cliffs from the water. There is also a great coastal path that connects Eyemouth to St Abbs for those who want a longer walk (about 3-4 miles each way).

Good to know: This is the place to get fish and chips—there are several award-winning shops right by the harbour. Be careful of the seagulls, as they are very brave when they see food!
