There are 28 Go Ape locations around the country, all set in some of Britains most spectacular forests. Go Ape in Derbyshire is in Buxton and is in the heart of the beautiful Peak District National Park, within walking distance of the historic Spa town itself. The Go Ape experience is a 2 to 3 hour Tree Top Adventure. Each site features tree top crossings, tunnels, bridges and an epic zip wire to finish.
The Heights of Abraham is a park on the top of Masson Hill. The park is reached by cable car that transports you in safety and comfort from the valley floor and provides stunning views of the Derwent Valley and surrounding Peak District.
The Hilltop Park is situated on the site of historic lead mining. The miners have left behind a large network of passages along with naturally formed caverns and passageways. Regular guided tours allow you to retrace the footsteps of the Miners underground, and experience the spectacular caverns they left behind.
New pathways were carved in to the hillside on circuitous routes and eventually the Victorians built the Prospect Tower. Today the paths still follow many of the original routes around the 60 acres of Woodland hillside. All were designed in such a way as to open up the spectacular views over the Derwent Valley below and the surrounding splendour of the Peak District.

Children can let off steam in the Discovery Depot a huge indoor play area with a soft tram climbing frame and ball pit and separate soft play area suitable for toddlers. There are two large picnic areas, one on the outdoor play area and one situated along the Woodland Walk where you can follow the sculpture trail and enjoy amazing views over the Derwent Valley.

On our visit we captured the moment when this young man proposed to his girlfriend. After being the first to congratulate them, we exchanged addresses and later sent them copies of our photos.
Castleton is a great place to start exploring Derbyshire. This small town is within walking distance of three caves and castle Peveril ruins.
Speedwell Cavern is flooded and the water level maintained so that tours can take place by boat. Peak Cavern has a large entrance where occasional concert performances and daily rope making demonstrations take place. On this occasion my partner Pam was selected.
Derbyshire has a number of beautiful towns such as Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock, Chesterfield, Castletown and Ashbourne and includes the Peak district, England's first National Park spanning over 500 square miles and is one of the most popular areas of natural beauty in England. The area has lush green meadows, picturesque dales and rolling hills with panoramic views, and offers excellent hiking, hill walking, cycling and nature trails for everyone.
On our visit we decided to cycle around the Ladybower reservoir. It is a great route and we were rewarded by a spectacular fly past by a number of aircaft.
