Paignton Zoo is a large zoo with a number of specialist habitats such as Forest, Savannah, Wetland and Desert. Paignton zoo recently added a new area called the Crocodile swamp that has lush tropical foliage and a steamy atmosphere. Here many different types of crocodiles are on the 'loose'.

Crealy adventure park is a theme park in Devon that is suitable for young childern up to age 12 and is a great place to visit on Devon holidays if you have young children. The theme park has a number of rides, slides, Go karts, log flume, bumper boats, roller coaster and swinging pirate ship. Inside there are 3 huge play areas, one play area is for under 5's.

Lundy Island

Lundy Island is only three and a half miles long by half a mile wide but as you can see from the photograph, it is a popular place to visit in Devon and many enjoy a day trip to the island. Most visitors go to Lundy mainly to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity away from all the bustle of the mainland or watch the wildlife, paint or take photographs. There are a few visitors that go walking, climbing, canoeing or diving. However, there are only 23 building on Lundy island so if you plan to stay, you need to make accommodaton arrangements in advance.

Morwellham Quay

Morwellham Quay is a World Heritage site, featuring a historic port, copper mine, working Victorian farm, railway, shire horses and museums of costume and mining.

Although miles from the sea Morwellham Quay was the most important copper port in Victorian times. In this open-air museum costumed staff act as guides. The highlight is a train ride along the banks of the River Tamar and then a trip deep underground to the copper mine.

On a sunny day this is a great place for a daytrip or a visit during Devon holidays.

The Golden Hind

The Golden Hind at Brixham is a full sized replica of one of the most iconic ships from the tudor age of exploration and is an interesting place to visit on Devon Holidays.

The ship is an excellent resource for students studying history especially Tudor history. This boat has appeared in many Film, Television dramas, Documentaries and children's programs.

Underground theatre and evening entertainment are specialities here with the ghost tour and Shakespeare plays particularly popular.

These medieval passages run under Exeter High Street and were built to house the pipes that brought clean fresh water to the city. This vast man-made complex of underground caverns was created by centuries of quarrying the famous Beer Stone. The underground quarry, first worked by the Romans, supplied stone for 24 cathedrals including Exeter and St.Paul's, parts of Westminster Abbey,the Tower of London, Hampton Court and Windsor Castle. Guides take you on an hour long tour through the caves with their mighty halls of vaulted roofs and pillars of Beer Stone which have been likened to a vast underground cathedral.
