Fairlands Valley Park is home to a great sailing club that is more like a water sports centre. The centre uses the 11 acre lake set in 120 acres of parkland to provide a number of different activities such as Sailing, windsurfing, kayaks. Powerboats, Power Kiting and Climbing.
The lake is used for the centre's dinghy, kayak, windsurfing and powerboat courses. All the courses are staffed by qualified instructors whose aim is to ensure that you enjoy the courses and learn in safety.
The park is also ideal for other activities. The lake waters are well stocked with fish and are popular with anglers although I'm sure the powerboats aren't popular with anglers. For joggers there is a Trim Track should they wish to use it. Anyone interested in taking a Hot air balloon flight from Fairlands Valley Park can arrange this through Adventure Balloons.

Welwyn Roman Baths are a small part of a bigger complex known as Dicket Mead villa. The other building that formed Dicket Mead villa were never fully excavated as shortly after the remains were discovered, plans for a new motorway were released that ran through the site.
A protective cover was built over the baths but the remainder of the site was bulldozed. The remains of the baths now sit 9 metres below junction 6 of the M1. Only about half of the original baths is on display. Visible parts on display include the hypocaust, the tepidarium (warm room), caldarium (hot room) and the frigidarium (cold room) floor and cold bath, constructed from opus signinum.
Today the baths are open to the public every day during Herts school holidays from 14:00 to 17:00 or (dusk if earlier), and outside school holiday periods at weekends and bank holidays 14:00 to 17:00 (or dusk if earlier). Check the website for details.
